“I expect a viewer to be able to enter an image and react with the environment. I try to create "stage sets" for them to perform on.” |
Born in Widnes, England 1953, Michael Kenna’s educational background includes attendance at Upholland College, Lancashire; The Banbury School of Art, Oxfordshire; and The London College of Printing, London. He is widely recognized as the foremost landscape photographer of his generation, his career now spanning over thirty years. Often working at dawn or during the night, Kenna explores and illuminates the effects that human civilization has on the natural world, recording the sculptural evidence and traces that man leaves behind. He has over 20 books and hundreds of solo exhibitions (now averaging around 14 each year worldwide) throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, and the United States. Michael moved to San Francisco where he resides with his wife, Camille. References: Hackelbury Fine Art |
