A Sweet Treat: Custom Photo Valentines!
Saturday, February 13th, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

A display of the materials used for the workshop with candies and hearts
Say “I love you” with photo treat bags and custom Valentine’s Day cards. Choose from a variety of backdrops, have your picture taken with fun props, then print out, fold into a topper and attach to a bag filled with your favorite candy. Make special 3-D Valentines to share with friends and family, and customize by using markers to write fun expressions or draw hearts around your face.

Optical Illusions: Playing with Light!
Saturday, May 21st, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
A variety of text displaying optical illusions
Come join us for a fun day in the darkroom and discover the magic of traditional black and white photography by making photograms. Place objects (or even your hands) on photographic paper, expose to light and watch the magic unfold as the image develops before your eyes! Use fun props or toys to create unique silhouettes, shapes and compositions, and if you are feeling really creative, try using a light wand to “draw” an image across your page!

The Digital Photo Academy is a two-week, intensive digital photography program that places an emphasis upon learning fundamental skills, enhancing perceptual abilities, and building a beginner’s portfolio. Geared towards ages 14-17, students are introduced to a wide range of photographic styles and learning opportunities that extend beyond the traditional classroom. This program coordinates directly with talented alumni, current DSC instructors, and commercial photographers to provide unique insight and information about career possibilities within the photographic industry. At the end of the program, participants go home with a portfolio and their best images are included in an exhibition in SMP's Youth Gallery Space.

Registrants must be available to attend both weeks in order to successfully produce a photographic portfolio and participate in the final gallery exhibition.
